~*MERRY CHRISTMAS*~

It's that time of year again !! The bells are ringing, colourful lights and decorations everywhere, only means one thing ~ The wonderful spirit of Christmas is here!!

It's the time of shopping as well, with presents to buy for children ~ and also for the coming Chinese New Year =P

But more to what's happening this two weeks, christmas is everywhere now!! Every major shopping venue and district are spectacularly decorated with anything and everything this blessed day could ask for; Each shopping complex specifically competing as to who has the better theme and the bigger tree =P

We manage to pay several of these shopping complexes a visit , and took some photo's of the festive decor's.

The Pavilion had a gold and white theme throughout their venue, with a huge 3-storey christmas tree just at the main entrance. It suits their decor , as it seems pure and elegant and great holiday ambience for a classy place like that.

Mid Valley on the other hand, had a circus theme to their decor. As usual, there will be towering trees in the centre court. The main difference is the stage and the surrounding decorations are filled with circus themed animals and props. There were lots of stalls scattered around the ground floor of Mid Valley, selling christmas'sy stuff, like candy, christmas tree ornaments, gifts, etc. The interesting thing, while we were there, there were clowns parading around, spreading the chrismas'sy mood to the shoppers. They entertained the kids a lot, it was a joy to watch =)

Next was the Curve, which in our opinion, was the best one by far. It had a fairy tale theme to it, making it feel very magical =D There were garden animal, deers, elephants, horses, small bears, and even sprites! The main decor in the atrium was in a shape of a square, wherein there were four tall christmas tree on each edge. The wierdest thing was... those four christmas tree could rotate!! We were shocked to see the tree rotate! Weird but.. interesting nevertheless =P The entrance to the Curve, walking from Cineleisure, there's an archway decorated with christmas lights. A picture worthy area , especially during the night time, when the lights brings the place to live =)

All in all, it was a great trip visiting these shopping complexes. Every year they seem to successfully top what they did the year before, making the Christmas celebration presence felt more throughout Malaysia.

Our Favourite Restaurant

We somehow came across this restaurant by chance. The first time we came here, we got attracted to it because of the queue of customers in front of the restaurant during any meal periods, and as the saying goes, where there's lots of people, there's bound to be good food =P

So, may we present to you .... "Fong Lye Restaurant"!

It's a Taiwanese restaurant located on the third floor of The Gardens, Mid Valley City. The physical build-up of the restaurant itself is rather nice; with glass exterior walls, the whole eating area is visible from the outside of the restaurant.

As of the time of writing this post, we've been to the restaurant a couple of time before, and we've tried several of their dishes on the menu (though we can't recall the names...). But, a picture says a thousand words, so here are some pictures of what we had during our visits there =P

We ordered tea as our drinks there. The tea is served in a very classic-styled teapot. It added a very nice touch to the dining utensils served. The cups provided matched the teapot in terms of size and design (which was rather petite, unlike the more modern Chinese restaurants).

Most of their meals comes in a standard serving; a main dish, a bowl of rice and soup, and a serving of three additional "mini-dishes" which are sort of condiments to the meal; all served in a wooden tray. Their soup is something to talk about ~ we are usually used to the oh-so-bland-and-plain typical chicken rice shop style soup served, so when we were served soup rich with ingredients, it was really something else. It's not something out of the ordinary, but they at least paid more attention to it than any other restaurant we've been to.

Some of the dishes we've tried so far are the usual chicken, beef, and fish. But there's one quite interesting one; their curry intestines. And when they claim the dish it's spicy, trust us when we say, it's SPICY.

As for desert, we had one of their snow mountains. It was rather a lot for a single person, so we shared it together ~ It's nothing to brag about.. but still a nice closing to the wonderful meal =) We also tried their fried tapioca balls. It's a really nice snack to have just before a meal actually =P really delicious !

It's undeniable that we'll definitely make many more visits to this place in time to come. So, do give it a visit sometime !

~* Our First Date *~

Our first date was a memorable one indeed ~ For the food, and more importantly, the agenda =)

We went downtown central Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion KL to be specific. It was around late afternoon when we arrived, so we had a walk around the vicinity, did some window shopping, etc.

The highlight of the event came during dinner time, when we headed towards the back of Pavilion, to Rakuzen. It's a Japanese restaurant just walking distance from where Pavilion is located.

From the outside, it might be difficult for some to locate it, as there is only the restaurant signboard to notify eager customers the location. It is located on the first floor, so it is a little secluded.

But upon entering, the interior gives customers the sense of displacement. The ambience of the restaurant is rather cosy; a great environment for those after a day of shopping or tired corporate white collars working around the vicinity. It's dim lights provides a sense of serenity ~ a rather nice place to dine or to just have a drink and chit-chat as well.

We were seated at a table overlooking the road adjacent to Jalan Bukit Bintang. We could overlook at the hustle and bustle of the main road, unable to help but to pity those stuck in the notorious KL traffic, while we were basking under the air-conditioned, contemporary designed
venue.

Looking at the menu, the food were a bit pricier than what we were used to, but nevertheless, it was a mouth-watering selection. We each ordered a set meal, and a Dragon roll sushi, one of their specialties. When the drinks arrived (cold green tea), it wasn't served like those typical Japanese sushi chains. We were served with a tall glass of green tea, which was rather modern, as opposed to the usual ceramic cup we were accustomed to using. We were also provided with towels to use before the meal.

The food arrived momentarily, with the sets arriving first. It was simply delicious ~ utilizing fresh ingredients and tasteful preparations, we couldn't hesitate, and just had to indulge ourselves with our meals. The dragon roll came shortly after. The presentation was simply amazing, looking exactly as was portrayed in their menu. And it was equally as delicious too.

After the meal, we stayed on to have a chat. The environment was so relaxing, that we didn't realize that the time was passing rather rapidly. It was almost closing time by the time we were aware. It was just so cosy and relaxing ~ a great place to sit and chatter away.

It would definitely be a venue we would like to visit again sometime soon!

As an introduction to us, we, yes WE, as in two, will be contributing to the topics in this lovely little blog. We will be writing and ranting on anything and everything we can think of or share through this blog.

About us: Hmm.... basically, one grew up in an area surrounded by forests of trees, and one grew up surrounded by an urban jungle of bricks and steel; he is a city guy, and she is a "kampung" gal. This will be the story of how a "banana" chinese, and a typical chinese experiences what love and life has to give.
